    Reason for enrolling

Vikram shared that he wanted to obtain a role as an IT Support Analyst to ensure that he met the criteria to secure a visa and fill the New Zealand national skills shortage.

    StudentCareTM

Vikram studied well and seemed to absorb all of the course material quickly and easily. Vikram needed support with exam prep and time management and consistent support with revision. It was a pleasure to support him and we are incredibly proud of his success.

    Career Services

Vikram has been a model student and has systematically worked through his training to develop his skills. He took our advice on board and created a LinkedIn profile which now details all of his experience and has his digital badges showing, which highlights his certifications. We also advised Vikram to write a CV which reflects his new found certifications and skills. He has been networking thoroughly on LinkedIn as well as following Career Services advice and registering with recruitment agencies. With the support and guidance from Career Services, Vikram has secured a permanent role in the IT team at the Otago University.

    The results

    Vikram says:

“I have been connected with Learning People for 1 year now. Because of their guidance and support to keep me motivated I now have multiple international certifications and the skills I needed to get a job in New Zealand. I would like to thank Robin my Senior Career Consultant, Mikayla from Student Care and Julia from Career Services in helping me to achieve my goals.”

    Carl Hayes, aged 56carlhayes-headshot

    Reason for enrolling

Carl was contracting in communications with phone cloud systems and was made redundant due to the company downsizing. He had tried studying through other training companies in the past but found the support and guidance was not there. Knowing that gaining an internationally recognised certification is essential within tech, Carl came to the Learning People.

    StudentCareTM

StudentCareTM worked closely with Carl to offer study plans and study management sessions. Carl was a very organised student. The StudentCareTM team worked with Carl to encourage him and keep him motivated and on task. Carl settled into his studies and has done incredibly well sitting three international certifications, passing all of them with flying colours.

    Career Services

During his training Carl engaged with Career Services, initially to help him set up his LinkedIn profile and grow his connections. He started growing his network by posting and sharing information and soon became an active user of LinkedIn. Carl took on the constructive advice given from Career Services regarding his CV, how to network and apply for roles, and quickly secured a role as a Solutions Architect with the help Career Services gave him. At interview he was tested on his CCNA and CompTIA Network + skills, which he passed with confidence thanks to his training.

    The results

    Carl says:

“Although I had worked in the tech industry for many years, I never had the chance to obtain the international certs I knew would make a difference in my career growth, and finally point me in the direction that I wanted to go. I now know with all the tools that Learning People provide, the support and the mentoring, I got there.

“My advice would be to trust in yourself and the local team here and give it a crack!”

    James Rudd, aged 25jamesrudd_headshot

    Reason for enrolling

James enrolled with us in December 2019. At the time he was working within the building industry, but he had always wanted to pursue a career in cyber security.

    StudentCareTM

James trained efficiently while working full time and was keen to learn. Setting up a study plan that worked meant he completed his first two cyber security qualifications quickly. We are incredibly proud of his success.

    Career Services

In February, James contacted us and at that stage he thought he might like to relocate to Brisbane or Sydney. He then changed his plan when COVID-19 hit and he remained in Newcastle. James was a model student and listened to all advice from the team. We worked with James on his CV and helped set up his profile on LinkedIn. James was coached how to network in the market by using LinkedIn and how to register with the right recruitment agencies. He took all the advice on board and was subsequently interviewed over Skype, securing his first cyber security role within only a few months of enrolling.

    The results

    James says:

“2 ICT/Cyber Security certifications down with 3 to go! Learning People provide a fantastic  service that is easy to use and provides structure to your learning requirements.
